I loved the way the author wrote the intro and the way she weaves the Shakespeare quotes through it. I enjoyed virtually exploring Warwickshire…. that poor girl who was buried alive! It’s lovely to revisit so many places I know and to be introduced to new ones… I will need a proper visit to the area again. The anecdotes are fascinating and the author has woven the history of the places and people so cleverly. It’s a cosy read in our lounge with a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake.

The reader of this book will find that they have two books in one; or three if you include the well chosen quotations from Shakespeare’s plays at the beginning of each section. For SC Skillman has done a great deal of research into each location she discusses, and I found it very interesting to learn of the history of these houses and their owners and occupants as well as the phenomena associated with them.
The reader is guided through each section and with the profusion of photographs included, one can follow the routes that SC Skillman has taken and possibly experience the things that she has written about.

An excellent read on Warwickshire history and the associated hauntings witnessed by observers. Many ghosts seem to have a sense of humour, so very amusing!
