A few images from Dunham Massey, a National Trust property in Cheshire. These were taken on 19th February – just at that time of the year for us in England where the spring flowers are arriving, heralds of joy and new hope.

Thank you for your comment, Masha. I think it’s the quality of the light as well that gives us such joy when looking at flowers – and especially the thought of approaching springtime!

I’ve looked at the lovely purple flowers you saw, and I’ll ask my son who is studying horticulture. He may be able to identify them.
Lovely photos – what are the flowers in numbers 3 and 6. Number 6 reminds me of purple toothwort which I found in France (it can be found in Britain) which I called the mystery purple flower before I eventually tracked it down.
Both flowers are irises. They are beautiful aren’t they?

Well, here we are still experiencing very cold conditions and frost on the cars! Jamie has just planted some snowdrops in the front garden – courtesy of Farnborough Hall National Trust property where he volunteers on the gardening team. These photos were taken on my mobile phone by Abigail and that’s why they’re so good…. I should have credited her in the captions!
