Well done for reading Hilary Mantel. I am finding the TV series interesting but I do really have to concentrate hard. She isn’t the easiest reader to grasp, or perhaps, as you suggest, she is just dealing with complicated subject matter.
Thank you for your comment. Yes I agree the subject is complex but as I am a keen student of history (and particularly that era in English history!) I can follow the TV adaptation well & grasp all the issues at stake & the relationships & situations.
Re. the books themselves they are initially challenging to read, and I know several readers who have tried and given up. The most difficult thing for me at first was to realise that whenever Mantel writes ‘he’ she means Thomas Cromwell. She never repeats his name : we are to read the books as if we were right inside his mind.
